Task 5 – Interactive Story and Writing strategies

Cinematic: A cinematic is a trailer about the game to aware the players about the game, This can also build hype for the game. Cinematics are released by the games developers to show what they have been working on. Some cinematics show off a games story line .

Overwatch

Blizzard entertainment are one of the best developers when it comes to showing off cinematics as they produce a short film about what they are releasing. In these cinematics Blizzard are telling there audience the backstories and some small stories of the character that are playable in Overwatch.

Cut scene: Cut scenes are in games so the players know what is going on in the games story. Cut scenes are played out like movies. Games normally start off with a cut scene for players to learn what the story is about and most games now kick off with a big scene.


Uncharted 4

Naughty Dog are one of the best game developers when it comes to a story, They have made the uncharted series and they have made the Last Of Us, In this cut scene you see Nathan Drake doing his every day job up until he receives a knock on the door, it is his brother Sam who is supposed to be dead, Up until this point do the players know who Sam is and why he is knocking on the door. This cut scene was released in December 2015 and left the audience hyped and demanding to see more.



Triggered Event: Triggered events are a big part of games are happen when the player does something in the game and it causes something else to happen for example if a player walks into an area and a bunch of enemies spawn in, this has been coded for it to happen for the players. 

Dark souls 3

From Software show off some of the best bosses and boss fights to ever be in games. Sometimes these boss fights can only happen if a player interacts with the boss, For example in the first boss fight of the video the player pushes a sword through a giant which triggers him to stand up causing the boss fight. Some boss fights trigger as soon as the player is close to the boss and with From softwares game the exits are closed off with fog and smoke causing the player to fight the boss or die.

Player Control: Player control interests the player because when each player plays the same player controlled game they would all experience it differently. Player control was added to the modern games and was introduced in the Infamous franchise as when a player plays the game they get to choose weather they want to be good or evil with there actions they choose. With more technology put into the games industry more games were able to bring more player controlled games like Until Dawn which is a horror game where you choose who lives and who dies and it also being a multiple ending with how the player plays the game.Player control gets the player involved as if they were the maker of the game and they were the ones that had created the game and the more ways you plays more the game can change.

Character Customization: Character customization is a big part of games now as most games require some sort of customization if its changing there outfit or creating a whole character. Character customization is in games as it give players more freedom and it makes the players look after there character more as they are creating a character from scratch and this character is unique in its own way.

Fallout 4 

Fallout 4 was release in 2015 and features a character customization like no other game. You first decide if you wanna play as Male or Female, then you are on your own to decide what color you character is, what size nose and ears they have, you also choose what height and weight you character is and a lot more in depth with the character before the game starts.
